Turkey Trot's First 'Couples Hunt' November 2011

Hi Pete & Sherry,
We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit to Turkey Trot. We're sure the majority of your guests are used to the "guided hunt" experience but this was a first for us. We're pretty simple people who have spent most of our time raising our kids and have not had the opportunity to splurge on vacations. We really weren't sure what to expect from our adventure. What we found were a group of people who immediately made us feel at ease, made us feel welcome and made us feel at home. As we've been sharing our experience with friends and family, a recurring theme has been how comfortable we felt and what gracious hosts the two of you are. Not having anything else to compare to, we can't say for certain...but we're pretty sure the two of you are not the norm (a very ggod thing). We both agree that while we're glad we got our birds, the best part of the entire trip was simply getting to meet everyone. That and the food... the food absolutely rocked!! Thanks again for everything!

Dinner Time is Always Popular at Turkey Trot!

We have secured hunting rights to over 40,000 acres of private land as well as 20,000+ acres of state and private lumber company properties.

Rest assured that all the hunts at Turkey Trot are the "Real Deal". We do it the old fashioned way ... no high fences, feeders, bottle fed bucks or pen raised turkeys. You will find thousands of acres of prime wildlife habitat and guides that know how to hunt!

As we all move through the new millennium "progress" will severely limit hunting areas for many sportsmen. Here at Turkey Trot Acres, we've taken steps to insure excellent hunting opportunities for long into the future. For the complete picture, watch for us on "The Outdoor Channel" and featured in popular hunting magazines.

Fall and Winter Turkey Hunter’s Handbook

In his Fall and Winter Turkey Hunter’s Handbook (Stackpole Books), author Steve Hickoff examines fall and winter turkey behavior and vocalizations, plus locating, scouting, and calling autumn wild turkeys, with tips for patterning birds and identifying changing flock composition. The material on firearms, ammunition, and archery tackle will benefit all turkey hunters.

The strategy of hunting fall turkeys with dogs by using them to find and flush flocks before calling scattered birds back is also represented in a lengthy chapter. Hickoff also writes in the book that Turkey Trot Acres is “the best operation for fall turkey hunting in the country. Their Appalachian turkey dog hunts are unrivaled, and done with great respect to the tradition. Food and lodging are first-rate as well.”

Author Steve Hickoff hunts wild turkeys around the country, and is widely published in outdoor magazines such as Outdoor Life, Turkey & Turkey Hunting, Turkey Call, and others.

Autographed copies of his new book are available by sending a check for $26.95 (which includes postage and handling) to Steve Hickoff, 97 Old Dennett Road, Kittery, Maine 03904. Contact him at 207-439-9119 or hickoff@comcast.net with any questions—or just to talk turkey.
